A board certified dermatologist specializing in cosmetic dermatology, lasers and dermatologic surgery, Dr. Karen Kim received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Medical Degree and Masters of Medical Science Degree from Brown University. She completed her medicine internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/ Harvard Medical School and her dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center where she was Chief Resident.
She then completed a fellowship in lasers, cosmetic dermatology and Mohs surgery at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. Upon completion of her fellowship, Dr. Kim joined the center where she treated patients from all over the world.
She has recently relocated from Manhattan to the Boston area, joining SkinCare Physicians in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Her practice incorporates the use of cutting edge technology with minimally invasive techniques. Procedures that she commonly performs include fractional rejuvenation (including Fraxel, Active FX), injectable fillers and Botox, laser treatment of redness and broken blood vessels, fine lines, skin laxity on the face and body, hyperpigmentation, brown spots, acne scars, leg veins and tattoos.
In addition, Dr. Kim was involved in the early studies of many innovative procedures that are widely used today including Thermage, Fraxel, Laser lipolysis and Plasma Skin Rejuvenation (PSR).
She has presented nationally and published many articles and written book chapters on cosmetic dermatology and lasers. Her expertise includes the latest advancements in laser and light-based technologies. She has been featured on local and national television broadcasting programs including ABC News and Good Morning America as well as in national publications such as In Style and Elle.
