A. According to Angela Palmer, About’s acne guide, avoid shades of red including pink, fuchsia and burgundy. Instead, try green, silver and gold. These colors look festive, without highlighting red skin.

A: Bold lipstick is definitely the big statement this season. Beauty experts gave the following tips to Stylist for creating a bold pout: For starters, exfoliate your lips since lipstick can accentuate the dry spots on your lips, and then apply Vaseline. Next, use a pencil to line your lips, which helps the lipstick stay on longer. If you’re a lipstick beginner, use a lip brush to apply the lipstick to your entire mouth. To avoid feathering, start applying the lipstick at the center of your lower lip. Then remove any lipstick from the brush with a tissue and use the clean brush to blend to the outer edges. To remove any excess, relax your lips and put a tissue between them; then blot from left to right with your index finger. Finish off with a clear gloss on the lips and pink blush (keep it low-key, though).

A: Sunless tanning sprays are considered safe, but you should still avoid inhaling the mist. According to Sandy Tsao, M.D., of the Dermatology and Laser Center at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, "Any chemical that's inhaled is a potential lung irritant." If you’re able, hold your breath and cover your nose while spraying self-tanner to avoid irritation.
